After a long grueling hike from Guitar Lake we gained about 2,000' in 2 miles and have another 1,000' to climb to reach the summit of Mt. Whitney. We started hiking at about 6:10am so that we would be in the shade for our climb all morning. The temperature is in the low 30°s.
